More than a decade ago, Tom began sharing his knowledge and expertise with Industrial Design students at Auburn University as part of a Design Studio. Auburn University recently acknowledged Tom’s leadership by awarding him the Industry Legacy Award for his contribution to the Auburn University College of Architecture, Design and Construction’s (CADC) as Professor of Practice in the School of Industrial Graphic Design (SIGD).

“Over the past fourteen years, Tom has been fully engaged in building the collaborative relationship between PlayCore and the AU/INDD and is being recognized for his leadership in the PlayCore-sponsored Industrial Design play-based design studio,” said Vini Nathan, Dean and McWhorter Chair, CADC, at their 2019 Annual Awards Banquet.

“One of the greatest joys of my professional life has been sharing my experiences with the design students at Auburn University,” said Norquist. “I am humbled and honored that the University has extended this title to me. It affirms the body of work in our Design Studio, as well as the commitment of Auburn University to the furtherance of thoughtful and purposeful industrial design.”
