Playground Grant Brings Play to California Community

GameTime recently completed a new playground project at Marlow Park in Bell Gardens, California that was made possible by a grant from the California Parks and Recreation Society. The new playground equipment replaces an aging play system that was no longer compliant, and is designed to attract children in the community and keep them active outdoors.

“The [previous] play structure had become too old and we had to remove parts to keep it safe,” explained Director of Recreation and Community Services Chris Daste. “This [new playground] is state-of-the-art. It should be a magnet for kids in the community. The playground was developed after extensive research, and fosters activities such as spinning, jumping, swinging and climbing, all part of healthy play."

The City of Bell Gardens applied to CPRS for a competitive Healthy Play Grant to make the needed improvements at Marlow Park. They were selected as a recipient and national demonstration site.
