GameTime Playground in Santa Clara Named National Demonstration Site for Youth Fitness

Active Play is Healthy Play

GameTime is excited to announce the new playground at Steve Carli Park has been named a National Demonstration Site for Youth Fitness. 

Continuously seeking to improve the city’s recreational play value, the City of Santa Clara decided to renovate the playground at the park to create additional opportunities for children to be more active outdoors. Mayor Lisa Gillmor stated “The City of Santa Clara is very excited to provide our community a new innovative playground that provides recreational use and promotes cognitive, social, and physical development for our youth."

Together with the help of MRC Recreation, a GameTime's exclusive representative in Santa Clara, the community designed a new play structure focusing on the curriculum found in the PlayOn! guide book from PlayCore and Shape America. PlayOn! is a standards-based curriculum that includes 125 fitness activities for the playground. Together, the new playground and the PlayOn! curriculum help children play in an active way and learn to see fitness as fun part of everyday life.

GameTime's parent company, PlayCore, designated the new playground a National Demonstration Site for Youth Fitness. The site will receive a certificate of recognition, become a part of a network of potential research sites, and will be promoted actively to other communities wishing to create recreation spaces using best practices in design and/or programming.
