Play For Life

GameTime recently completed a new playground focused on youth physical activity at Summerfaire Park in Turlock, California. The project was the result of the California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) Healthy Play Statewide Initiative in partnership with PlayCore. 

Representatives of the Turlock Recreation Department attended an educational symposium presented by CPRS and PlayCore that provided research and best practices for designing spaces that promote more physical activity for children. Session attendees then submitted a grant request to GameTime to put research into action. GameTime granted funds to build the new playground at Summerfaire Park, as well as replace equipment at two other parks.

The playground was designed using the principles found in PlayOn! - a design guide and curriculum developed by SHAPE America in partnership with PlayCore. PlayOn! provides 125 fun activities for children, parents and teachers that align with national standards for physical education. 

PlayCore designated Summerfaire Park a National Demonstration Site for Youth Fitness and added it to their national registry of demonstration sites.
