Albion Riverside Park is a Multigenerational Play and Fitness Destination
Dairy Turned Destination
Once a dairy distribution center, the new Albion Riverside Park is now a play and recreation space for families in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. More than a decade in planning, preparation and construction went into the development next to Downey Recreation Center. Great Western Recreation, GameTime's exclusive representative in Los Angeles, worked with city leaders and community members to create the amenity package.

The park includes a new GameTime playground and adult fitness equipment (adjacent to the playground), basketball courts, outdoor classroom, picnic areas, and sports fields with synthetic turf. It's a beautiful and exciting project that spans 10 acres along the LA River. Los Angeles City Councilmember Gil Cedillo, who represents the area where the park is located, called the project “a massive investment into Lincoln Heights” that provides green space and recreation space while also affirming “our commitment to sustainable public works.”

In 2019 the city of Los Angeles bought the Ross Swiss Dairy property. Demolition took four years and, according to the LA Times, environmental cleanup required another 20 months. Final construction on the park begin in 2017. Today, however, the months of work are a faint memory as children and families play, exercise and participate in team sports.
