AARP of Kansas Donates Expression Swings to Topeka’s Ripley Park
Swing For All
Topeka's Ripley Park is going to have a new attraction for people of all ages and abilities. Thanks to a donation from AARP of Kansas to the Parks for All Foundation, Shawnee County parks department will install Expression Swings® in the park.
Expression Swing is the industry's first and patented face-to-face, eye-to-eye playground swing that enables children and adult caregivers to enjoy the benefits of swinging play together! The design of Expression Swing also aids in attunement, or emotional bonding, between adult and child.
AARP of Kansas Director Dr. Maren Turner presented Topeka Mayor Michelle De La Isla and Shawnee Commissioners with a $5,000 check for the addition of Expression Swings for Ripley Park
On the Shawnee County Facebook page, the staff shared, "We're grateful to AARP for its donation which will bring a desired piece of playground equipment to Ripley Park that allows parents to swing facing their children and children to do the same with each other." Mayor De La Isla added, "The people who use the park are not asking for anything fantastic – just some equipment they can use in the park they go to every day. This $5,000 donation provides just that."
